Mesh networks are only as strong as their gaps.
A mesh matters most when everything else is down, and that is exactly when a gap splits it in two. Only height closes a gap. There are two ways to have it.
Airborne Operator
The aircraft are already up there. 44,000 flights a day, and one percent carrying a node is 55 relays aloft at once, moving the whole time.

A ridge or a rooftop reaches far less, and never leaves. The clusters either side of it stay joined on the nights nobody flies.
